Everyone has a dream. A dream or purpose is an investment or deposit to humankind by our maker. We have a responsibility to manifest reality. Dreams have brought about many innovations in the world. We have gotten wonderful solutions for our pain out of other people’s dreams who took the time to manifest them. However, many dreams are killed in our hands. We have to be on the lookout for the dream killers which include;
- Fear
The number one dream killer is fear. This is a global element of killing dreams. Dreams come in magnanimity and we sometimes fear that we will never be able to fulfill them because we feel not good enough for the dream given to you. What fears are you having? Is it fear of failure, loss or unknown? Is it the fear of success, greater responsibilities, and higher expectations? Identify it and deal with it until you are good. Sometimes it cannot be totally eliminated and you just need to step out when afraid and it will sort its self when the small wins start to show up.
- People.
Friends and family can diminish your energy or enthusiasm about your dream. They will be the first to discourage, sometimes they will express jealous for your idea. People closest to you will mostly not support your dream but that should never hinder you from pursuing them. Focus on the dream and make steps towards it so that you have something worthwhile to show them. Some of them have inner fears, lack self-worth and therefore it is not worthy to let them crush your aspirations.
- Uncertainty
It results in indecision or decision is made too late that the motivation and morale are gone. When people are not sure or don’t have clarity of their dreams then it leads to uncertainty. However, you don’t need to know everything or how everything will unfold, you just need to believe in the dream and push to its fulfillment and once you start it becomes clearer each step of the way. Dreams open in pages and the next step is not known at the time of dreaming it but comes open through the process of manifestation.
- Your Past
Accumulated experience in the journey of life that has made you what you are today. Includes past failures, disappointments, personal pain, past hurts buried deep in us and rejection. Also includes self-sabotaging behaviors and dream destroying habits that we have learnt over time. You must close the records of the past intentionally and forgive yourself for the past mistakes and instead draw from them lessons that propel you to your dreams. If you don’t confront the past it will always rear its ugly face in the pursuit of your dreams.
- Insecurity
These are internal negative perceptions advanced by you regarding your own personal inability. You must always arm yourself with the belief that you are good enough and your story is your story and no one can write or tell it the way you will. You are well capable of achieving your desires and you should let that insecurity fuel your desire than allow it to kill it.
It’s also critical to be aware of perceptions of instability regarding external circumstances or conditions. For example, the state of the economy or national security can bring insecurity in the pursuance of one’s dream but that should not be an obstacle. Remember that is not your issue to deal with. It’s your government to offer and if it cannot offer security there is always a way out. You can look for an international market that is favorable.
- Inaction.
A dream without action is just a dream. Decision making is critical to making a dream a reality. You cannot dream of owning a house and you wait for the house to find you. You have to identify the house you want, where you want it and how much it would cost. Then make small steps towards achieving that goal.
Naturally, things want to stay the way they are, nothing wants to happen on its own. You must, therefore, put intentional action to chase your dreams. Once you are in motion then the universe will send resources you require into your direction. You must fight the tendency to remain at inertia in the pursuit of your dreams. No one will ever manifest your dream, by the way, you dreamt alone, so alone you shall bring it to pass.
- Laziness
People don’t want to be told they are lazy but when you allow yourself to push your dream aside, procrastinate your desires, allow your motivation to be lost then you are being lazy with your dream. A manifestation of the dream requires you to work hard and smart. It will require your sacrifice, resources and will call for your full attention. It will lead you finally to a life of abundance and it will be worth the sacrifice and the work.
- Overanalysing.
Stay simple. My coach says don’t overthink. The world is waiting for the simple solutions not complicated. When you overanalyse you are talking yourself from your dream? You are opening the door of impossibilities. The first simple bold step will take you there, not the complicated fear filled rethinking, changing, rewriting and deleting that leads to confusion of what was the dream, to begin with.
What is making you not pursue your dreams? I would like to know, kindly drop me a comment.
